Singer Dua Lipa recommended the book "The Dangers of Smoking in Bed" by Argentine writer Mariana Enríquez in a special Halloween edition of her book club, which took place this Friday.
Since 2022, the artist has decided to embark on a personal project outside of music: reading. That's why she launched Service95, a platform where she monthly recommends a book, shares a review of it, and even has intimate conversations with various authors.
For the October edition, special for being the month of Halloween, Dua Lipa turned to the horror genre and chose one of her favorite authors, Mariana Enríquez.
"This book presents 12 unsettling stories set in Buenos Aires and its surroundings, often focusing on women and girls who experience supernatural events intertwined with the traumas of Argentine history," Dua Lipa wrote in her review of "The Dangers of Smoking in Bed."
This isn't the first time Dua Lipa has recommended Argentine authors. At the beginning of 2024, she shared a special enthusiasm for the book "Fortune" by Hernán Díaz, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 2023 for this novel. She also mentioned "It's Not a River" by Selva Almada.
